Join fellow WAFDO members and participate in a webinar titled Dangerous Documents: Avoiding Land Mines in Your Records and Emails

10:00 – 11:30 am PT on either Tuesday, March 16, or March 30, 2021.  Space is limited to 25 attendees per session, on a first-come-first-served basis. Please note, once registered, refunds are not able to be offered.

Employees today are under intense pressure. Without thinking, they may write blunt comments in post-it notes, send personal emails on the organization’s computer, or write scathing comments to their colleagues. If the organization is sued, these documents can become evidence. They could be used to embarrass the employee and the organization.

In this high-energy, interactive session, you’ll have the opportunity to use your webcam and participate in small breakout groups. There you’ll connect with your colleagues to analyze problems and create innovative solutions. You’ll leave the session with ideas for protecting you and your organization from unwelcome surprises.

By the end of the session, you will learn:

·        How the public gets access to intra-agency or inter-agency documents
·        What occurs during a trial
·        The information to include and exclude when writing meeting minutes
·        The words that will attract the attention of the press and industry lawyers
·        How to respond to an angry email
·        The unrecognized dangers in casual emails
Thoughts and Reactions of Other Regulators Who Participated in the Session

A fantastic presentation filled with real-world examples of what not to do.   The instructors’ interactive style and sense of humor make this a ‘must-see’ presentation.

The session gave me insight into how the legal system views information that is shared at a government agency. The presenters created an atmosphere of energy and excitement. The time raced by. Before I knew it, the session was over.

To say the session was engaging is an understatement. We participated in breakout rooms, answered polls, communicated by "Chat," and gained useful insights that we can apply tomorrow on the job.

I appreciated that one instructor was a former prosecutor and the other was a former regulator. In a fun, informal, and relaxed environment, they kept our attention with stories and challenged us to consider the actions that we do every day that could damage our reputations.
